<Guided Tour Plan ①>
Shimanami Kaido Guided Tour Plan ① Shimanami Kaido half ride ~ Explore between Imabari and Omishima

This is a cycling plan exploring from Imabari to Omishima, the first half of the Shimanami Kaido. It's recommended for those who want to slowly look around the high spots from Imabari to Omishima. We'll go around the calm islands while feeling the warm hospitality of the islanders. In addition, we can adjust the course according to your physical strength.

◎Time required: About 6 hours
◎Tour fee:
12,000 JPY per person (if you are a group of 2 to 4 people)
9,600 JPY per person (if you are a group of 5 to 10 people)

*Minimum number of participants: 2
*Tour fee is inclusive of guide fee and insurance fee. BUT exclusive of lunch fee (about 1,000-1,500 JPY / per person) and rental bike fee (2,200 JPY / per person).
*All prices are inclusive taxes.

*Rent a bike: The public rental bike which you can drop off in Omishima is convenient. "JR Imabari Station Temporary Rental Cycle Terminal" is close to JR Imabari station. If you want to reserve a rental bike, you can contact them from the following email address.

9:00 Meet up at the station.
Please come with a bicycle and helmet. The JR Imabari Station Temporary Rental Cycle Terminal is open at 8:30.
We unique local guide are waiting for you!

9:30 Depart for the Shimanami Kaido
We cycle the backstreets leading to the coastline, avoid the car-heavy main route. As you gradually get closer to the bridge of the Shimanami Kaido, you'll be excited.
To a secret path where only locals know!

10:00 Kurushima-kaikyo Bridges
Firstly, we cross the largest bridge on the Shimanami Kaido. The exhilaration of cycling while looking the Seto Inland Sea islands and looking down at the passing ships is wonderful.
We'll get off on the island where not many people go from the middle of the bridge and find out a secret beach!

11:00 Explore Oshima
Arrive at Oshima, the first island. We cycle along the coastline while looking the bridge which we just crossed and also Imabari town on the other side.
Sometimes we'll cycle through labyrinthine narrow streets like a photo to the left.

11:30 Yoshiumi Rose Park
A little break in a spacious park. We recommend eating the rose hip ice cream at Tsukiya, a popular restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of ice cream flavors. The best season for roses is from mid-May to early June.

12:30 Lunch time in Miyakubo area
Lunch place will be in the Miyakubo area. We recommend a restaurant where you can eat local japanese curry that makes use of the ingredients of Oshima, or a restaurant where you can eat fresh seafood bowls and seafood BBQ using plenty of Setouchi fish. Please let us know in advance what you want to eat♪

13:40 Hakata S.C Park
Arrive at Hakatajima, the second island. After enjoying lunch, it's time to relax on the spacious beach. Why don't you eat local specialty Hakata salt ice cream for after-meal dessert?
This ice cream is very popular because a lot of japanese people know this brand "Hakata Salt". We use a lot!

14:20 Explore Omishima
Arrive at Omishima, the third island. We cycle along the coastline. There are many orange grove all over the island. During the autumn and winter seasons, many fruits grow on the branches, turning into a lively landscape that looks like a Christmas tree.

15:00 Tatara Shimanami Park

Shimanami Kaido Guided Tour Plan ② 2 days bike trip across whole Shimanami Kaido

This is a cycling plan exploring the whole Shimanami Kaido in 2 days. Plan 2 gives you 2 days to explore, so you can slowly look around the highlights of the Shimanami Kaido. The accommodation on the first day will be at Omishima, halfway along the Shimanami Kaido. As you scroll down, you will find some recommended accommodations. Also, you can adjust the course according to your physical strength, so let's decide together through email!

◎Time required: 2 days (Ending time of the second day is 16:00.)
◎Tour fee (for 2 days):
24,000 JPY per person (if you are a group of 2 to 4 people)
19,200 JPY per person (if you are a group of 5 to 10 people)

10:00 Kurushima-kaikyo Bridges
Starting in Imabari city, today's goal is about 40km to Omishima. We cycle the first bridge, "Kurushima-kaikyo Bridges", which can be said the entrance to the Shimanami Kaido.
We'll get off on the island where not many people go from the middle of the bridge and find out a secret beach that only locals know!

11:00 Explore Oshima
Arrive at Oshima, the first island. We go north along the coastline while watching the blue sparkling sea. The scent of the tide drifts, you feel slow flow of time. It makes you feel like "I'm on the island!".

12:30 Lunch time in Miyakubo area
Lunch place will be in the Miyakubo area. We recommend a restaurant where you can eat local japanese curry that makes use of the ingredients of Oshima, or a restaurant where you can eat fresh seafood bowls and seafood BBQ using plenty of Setouchi fish. Please let us know in advance what you want to eat♪

13:40 Explore Hakatajima
Arrive at Hakatajima, the second island. You should try local specialty Hakata salt ice cream on the nice beach. By the way, Imabari is a town where the shipbuilding industry is thriving. When you pass beside the ship, you will be overwhelmed by its hugeness. You can see it here!

14:20 Explore Omishima
Arrive at Omishima, the third island. We cycle along the coastline. There are many orange grove all over the island. During the autumn and winter seasons, many fruits grow on the branches, turning into a lively landscape that looks like a Christmas tree.

16:00 Stay overnight at Miyaura area
Today's cycling will end at Miyaura are. We recommend "Guest house OHANA", "TOMARIGI Hostel" and "NAGISA" in this Miyaura area. I'm sorry to trouble you, but please make a reservation by yourself. In this area, there is huge hot spring with beautiful ocean views, craft beer factory and nice restaurant for dinner...etc. Anyway, we will guide you if there is a place you want to go♪

 

 

 

<Guided Tour Plan ② -The second day->

 

 

9:00 Meet up at Oyamazumi Shrine
Eat breakfast, make sure you don't leave anything behind, and start the second day! First, we will visit Oyamazumi Shrine, one of Japan's leading shrines. Then, cycle along the beautiful sea and aim for Ikuchijima.
We're going to a little-known mysterious power spot where there is a 3,000-year-old camphor tree!

11:00 Explore Ikuchijima
When you cross the Tatara Bridge from Omishima, you go into Hiroshima Prefecture. In fact, there is a prefectural border in the middle of the bridge, and also there is other interesting thing...
After you cross it, you'll see a valley with lots of lemon trees here.

11:30 Setoda area
Here, gelato kneaded with island citrus is one of Ikuchijima's specialties. Don't leave the island without eating it. Let's have a good time at popular shops where cyclists stop by.
And also, we'll guide you to the nostalgic retro shopping street.

12:30 Explore Innoshima
Lunch is at Innoshima, and the island's soul food "In-oko" is recommended! In-oko means Innoshima okonomiyaki. The one with udon noodles is mainstream, and cheap and big.
We'll take you to a recommended very local shop.

13:30 The bicycle shrine
This is Innoshima's oldest shrine. People say "This shrine is moved the sacred spirits of a god from Oyamazumi shrine in Omishima and worshiped those spirits". It's said that a guardian god for cyclists around the world is enshrined. After worship, it's common to take a picture with your bicycle in front of the shrine.

14:30 Explore Mukaishima
Finally the last island on the Shimanami Kaido. Mukaijima is now urbanized as a bed town in Onomichi. It may be slightly different from image of the Shimanami Kaido due to the number of people and cars. But, of course it has a lot of unique charm here! Let's go and enjoy the unique scenery and cityscape of Mukaijima!

15:00 Explore Iwashijima
Stop a little at Iwashijima, a small island next to Mukaijima. There are some mysterious things on the island, such as a dark and eerie tunnel like a cave, and a torii and a lantern standing on the beach. Let's explore such a mysterious Iwashijima without fear!

16:00 Onomichi
The last bridge has a narrow road and a lot of traffic, so we do not cross the bridge, we cross over to Onomichi by ferry. With this, it's Shimanami Kaido cycling achievement! When you apply for a tour, please tell us which plan you prefer!
